Why a Third-Party App?
It is impossible to avoid using third-party integrations while using Salesforce B2C Commerce. How bad is that? No, it's incredible! It's intentional, as we discovered in the Customize a Commerce Cloud Reference Architecture unit.
Which Third-Party Apps shall be used?
The documentation should outline the proposed integrations in a summary section or the commencement section and make them accessible soon after the project's discovery phase. Check the list one more to make sure everything is on it.
Payment processors, ratings and reviews, tax processing, and email services are the integrations with third-party suppliers that occur most frequently. They are the ones in terms of technology where a third-party provider can excel.
The integration of the third-party application with the application is crucial. See this table for some inspiration.
Third-Party Application | Storefront Page |
Payment | Checkout |
Ratings and Reviews | Product details page |
Tax | Checkout |
Address Verification | Account administration, shopping, a wish list, and a gift registry |
Tag Management | each page. An IP address, user profile information, and everything the user clicks or views are just a few examples of the actions or events that tags, inserted on each page, capture on a website or device. |
Social | Product details page, checkout |
Personalization | Pages with product information, search results, and messaging |
Planning Integrations
You've received a list of external applications to integrate; the next step is to make sure everything is in place. The integrations can include a variety of tasks, such as loading a cartridge, transferring data, or even learning how to utilize a new browser-based application.

These integration tasks are examples.
Format | Process(es) | Application Type |
Cartridge | Manual tasks are replaced with scripts and product feeds. | Product recommendations |
Cartridge | Just load a cartridge for direct integration. | Tax, payment processor |
Controllers | adds data at the product feed automatically. | Tagging |
Separate UI | manipulate product data in a system that uses a browser. | Content management |
Separate UI | Use a browser-based system to report on order data and then launch the ensuing email and social media marketing campaigns. | Analytics |
Separate UI | Make and publish content assets including trend pages, lookbooks, quizzes, and buying guides. | Content management |
Regardless of the size of the integration effort, testing starts when integration is finished. The same goes for ongoing operations like bug repairs, feature updates, and the constant massaging of fresh data in a different program. Make sure the merchant is aware of how these chores will affect their available resources.
To make it easier for you to stay organized when implementing, you might wish to add two extra columns.
- Responsible parties (names, addresses, and phone numbers)
- Schedule

Discovering Gaps
What types of gaps should you watch out for? Here are a few examples.
- Does the schedule allow for the integration tasks?
- Are our client resources required for the tasks?
- Do certain integrations rely on others?
- Does a specific B2C Commerce version or feature have an impact on integrations?
- Do any of the qualifications need to be delayed or unavailable?
- Exist any technical problems?
- Can other vendors step in if one vendor has problems?
